This week, a group from Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. visited the Hydrogen Terminal Braunschweig. We were pleased to engage in an exciting exchange with siz energieplus on the implementation of green hydrogen production with the truck hydrogen refueling station. The centerpiece of the terminal is a 1 MW anion exchange membrane electrolyzer from Enapter, which produces enough hydrogen per day to supply up to 14 fuel cell trucks, each with a tank capacity of around 32 kg of hydrogen.

In the future, part of the waste heat from the electrolysis process will supply the new Fraunhofer ZESS building across the street. A blueprint for innovative, decentralized approaches to sector coupling and the use of local synergies in the energy transition!

The day was marked by networking and exchange on research activities related to sustainable hydrogen and battery technologies in Braunschweig. Other stops for Wasserstoff Campus included the sites of BLB+ Braunschweig LabFactories for Batteries and More, focusing on circular battery production, as well as Fraunhofer IST for fuel cell recycling.
