How can fuel cell systems be managed sustainably at the end of their life cycle?
As production volumes of fuel cell systems rise, the focus is increasingly shifting to their recycling. At the DECHEMA Forum 2026, Fraunhofer IST will present current research on holistic recycling strategies for PEM fuel cells. The focus will be on recovering valuable materials such as platinum, as well as on how recycling can be integrated into the product development process from the outset. Particularly in light of the growing hydrogen economy, such approaches make an important contribution to conserving resources and closing material loops.
