Hands-on green hydrogen: The Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. at the Summervibes Festival of the TU Braunschweig
- Presseinformation /
How does a fuel cell work? What makes hydrogen “green”? And how can it be integrated into a sustainable circular economy? The Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. will provide answers to these and many other questions on June 21, 2025, at the Summervibes Festival on the Campus Nord of the TU Braunschweig.

At the Science Field (booth no. 19) on Campus Nord, visitors can experience firsthand how green hydrogen is produced, stored, and used – along the entire value chain from solar cells and electrolyzers to storage options and fuel cells. Depending on their background knowledge, visitors can dive deeper into electrochemical principles, electrical wiring, and the current-voltage characteristics of a fuel cell.
Real components of a fuel cell system will also provide insights into current developments in hydrogen technology. The scientific research work at the Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter e.V. is supported by the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST, which also serves as its central office.
In addition, the association will provide information about employment opportunities for students at its booth. In cooperation with Fraunhofer IST, the Wasserstoff Campus Salzgitter offers numerous opportunities for student theses.
The Summervibes Festival is part of CampusXperience, a three-day series of events organized by the TU Braunschweig, the AStA of the TU Braunschweig, the Jugendring Braunschweig, and the student association. In addition to the Science Field, visitors can look forward to a diverse program of hands-on experiments, keynotes, workshops, live music, street food, a science slam, guided tours of various university research facilities, and a large sports festival.
